Our diagnostic
testing equipment includes a blower door, duct blaster,
infrared camera, combustion analyzer, energy modeling
software, electrical test equipment, plus many others.
Using a blower
door, we can pinpoint problems in your home’s building shell
and their solutions. A blower door test is used to measure
air leakage and trace air flow. This information guides us
when air sealing to ensure the best results.
The
duct blaster is used to test how leaky the duct system is
and when combined with the blower door we can determine how
much hot or cold duct air is being pushed outside of the
home’s building envelope. It is also used to verify duct
sealing measures.
An infrared
camera is used in combination with the blower door and/or
duct blaster to further pinpoint air leaks and/or thermal
bypasses from the home’s building shell. We can also use it
to find disconnected ductwork, electrical wiring problems,
and moisture problems.

The combustion
analyzer is used to determine the efficiency of combustion
equipment and more importantly whether or not the equipment
is spilling carbon monoxide into the home or if the
equipment is contributing to a health and safety risk.
The energy
modeling software combined with a utility bill analysis
enables us to determine the current performance of your home
and what corrective measures will provide the greatest
return on investment. If improvements are made it will
provide us with an estimate in the reduction of climate
change gases.
The electrical
test equipment provides us with voltage drops in outlets,
ground fault interrupter performance and kilo watt usage of
appliances. These tests help pinpoint electrical problems.
Visual
inspection also helps to find problems in the home.
