What is Included in our Healthy Home Energy Audit

Our whole house energy audit starts with a personalized conversation with one of our auditors. We want to know what makes your home uncomfortable so we can find a way to not only address your concerns, but also to make your whole house more comfortable for you. 

Utility Bill Analysis. We will go through your utility bills to help analyze what is going on in your home, finding out what uses the most energy and help you reduce it in a cost effective manner. 

Combustion Analysis.  We perform combustion safety testing to make sure that your heating equipment is running safely and efficiently. Combustion analysis testing includes

• Gas Leak Test to ensure that there are no leaking in visible fuel lines.
• Carbon Monoxide Test measures the amount of carbon monoxide (CO) levels in flue gases of your heating appliances. Carbon Monoxide is a deadly gas that does not have any color, taste, or smell. Low levels of CO has been linked to many medical conditions. 
• Combustion Draft Test ensures that your heating appliances are venting properly and not back drafting into your home.
• Combustion Efficiency Test measures the efficiency of your heating appliances.

Insulation Inspection. We take a visual look at the insulation, in the attic, in the walls, in the crawlspace, and/or basement. And the quality of it. If there are voids in the insulation, if there is settling, if there is a lack of air sealing, we'll let you know! Voids in insulation can render insulation useless, and improper air sealing is the same thing as leaving your jacket unzipped on a cold winter day. Brrr.  

Blower Door. A powerful fan is set temporarily in doorway connected to the outdoors to create a pressure differential between the indoor and outdoors. The air that is removed from the house is replaced with air from the outdoors through leaks in the house. For every cubic foot of air that blows through the fan, a cubic foot leaks in, and our diagnostic tools help us calculate how many cubic feet per minute is being replaced in your home, or essentially how large of a cumulative hole is in your home.

Infrared Inspection. The infrared scan will help us find these places that air is leaking, and help us reduce the amount of air infiltration into your home.

Detailed Report. In this detailed report we’ll guide you through what we discovered in your home. We’ll also let you know how to fix it. You decided how much you want to do, and we’ll price it out for you. It’s on to the next step!
